Yes. After you have created your online identification with Austin Community College, you will be able to register and pay for the class online.

How much does it cost?
The full price for How to Build a Successful Business Using the Internet is $599. This includes all classroom materials needed to become an entrepreneur.

When is the Class?
This class starts on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 6pm-9pm. The class is 10 weeks long and will run every Wednesday.

Is this course available online?
We believe that most students will learn to become an entrepreneur better in an in-person, hands-on environment. At this time, classes are not available online, though this option should be available in the near future. Please join our mailing list to receive more information about online classes if you are not local to Austin, Texas.

How much homework is involved?
Students will be expected to complete 8-10 hours per week of outside work in order to leave the 10-week program with an actual business and become an entrepreneur. This is in addition to the 3-hour per week class time.

How long is the class?
The course consists of ten(10) 3-hour classes.

Is this course accredited?
At this time, the course How to Build a Successful Business Using the Internet is not an accredited course.

Prerequisites

What are the prerequisites to taking this class?
Students should be able to surf the internet and read and compose email. No advanced technical knowledge is required, just a burning desire to become an entrepreneur.

What equipment do I need at home?
Students need to be able to use a computer with internet access outside of the classroom.

Do I need to have completed high school or be in college to take the class?
Though this course is intended for adults, upon administrative approval, high school students or homeschooled teens are welcome in the class. Students do not need to have graduated high school or be in college in order to attend. They just need a desire to become an entrepreneur.

Can a teenager take this class?
Yes. With administrative approval, teen entrepreneurs are welcome to attend the class and build a successful online business.

Can a senior take this class?
Absolutely! This program is designed for adults, and many successful students have been retired or approaching retirement. This is not a “techy” class aimed at youth; it is a class designed to teach regular people how to succeed online.

Will this help my offline small business?
Yes, if you are currently a small business owner looking to bring your business online, this class will show you how to do that successfully.

Can I do this without having an offline business?
Yes. This course is designed to help you turn any hobby, skill or interest into an online business. No offline business is required.

Business Information

How quickly will I have a workable business?
At the end of the 10-week program, all students who have completed their homework should have a workable business.

How much money will I make?
Many factors determine the amount of money one will make online, such as time devoted to their business and competitiveness of niche. There is no set amount of money that can be promised.

Do I have to sell anything or sign up people?
This is not a network marketing opportunity. This is a course designed to help would-be entrepreneurs build a successful business using the internet. There is nothing to sell and no people to sign up.

What is the policy on creating adult content websites?
Adult websites, websites devoted to hate or anything illegal or bordering on illegal are not permitted in this class or with the online website building platform. Those interested in pursuing such online interests need to look elsewhere.

Site Build It Information

What is SBI?
SBI, Site Build It, is the online platform How to Build a Successful Business Using the Internet will give to students to build their websites.

Do I have to buy SBI?
No. The normal annual fee for SBI is included with the cost of the course.

Will I have to buy SBI later?
The SBI subscription lasts for one full year. One year after the start of the class, the subscription will come due again, at $299 per year. Students who wish to continue their subscription to SBI will need to pay SBI directly. This is not done through Austin Community College.

Can I take the class if I already have SBI?
Yes. Current SBIers are welcome to take this course. There is no discount in the price of the course; however, your SBI subscription will continue for one more year. You have the option of continuing your existing site or starting over on a new one.
